Clean Up Esperance is set to make the town sparkle when volunteers join national Clean Up Australia Day on March 1.

The event will be the first major community clean up for the newly formed group which is open to all like-minded local environmentalists.

Volunteers will gather at the boat ramp car-park on the Andrew Street end of the Esplanade before collecting as much trash as they can.

Last year's Clean Up Australia Day event saw a record turn-out with more than 50 volunteers taking part in a clean up stretching from West Beach to Bandy Creek.

Individuals and families wanting to take part are encouraged to gather at 8.30am to sign in before the event.
