The Esperance Triathlon Club season began with an opener event held at the Taylors St Quarters where dedicated tri club members were recognised for their efforts and commitment to the club with Pamela Williams, Graham and Kathleen Donovan awarded Life Memberships.
The first race was a duathlon along the foreshore on October, 13. Racers competed in a gorgeous morning where members completed both short and long courses. Ben Pratt took out the honours of the long course and Pam Williams the short.
The second race on October 20 was another duathlon with competitors battling windy weather conditions. In what maybe a first, members were held up on the ride course as heavy farm machinery was moved across Norseman Road. Owen Critchley took out line honours.
The Corporate Triathlon was back on the calendar this year, with six teams completing the short course. The corporate is a great way to have a go at a tri, with competitors able to compete alongside one or two of their mates. It's a fun morning and everyone finished with smiles.
The Christmas tri was also a highlight with members dressing up to compete together. There were lots of amused looks as Santas, elves and reindeers ran down the foreshore.
Coming up on February 23, is the Esperance Tri Club's first kids triathlon, for children aged 4 to 14. Various distances based on ages will be completed and the price to compete is $5.00 per child.
