SportsPower retail assistant Brit Cooper has scooped the Esperance Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Customer Service of the Month Award for January.

Praised for her bubbly nature, Miss Cooper has been a friendly face in the Dempster Street store for five years.

While on the hunt for her first full time job after finishing school, Miss Cooper dropped her resume into the SportsPower store and was on the floor serving local sport fanatics the next day.

Miss Cooper said she was "super surprised" by the award and loved being part of the SportsPower team.

"It feels really good to be rewarded, I do love customer service and I find it just comes naturally," she said.

"I love everything about working here, I love helping little kids get new shoes and I like helping customers find the right fitness equipment.

"I am really happy and really appreciative to anyone who nominated me."

Miss Cooper said the most rewarding part of her job was getting to know her customers and helping them to find exactly what they were looking for.

"You get to know regular customers and I like helping people in this community," she said.

"I am quite bubbly and I love a good chat and I think the customers really appreciate that.

"It's also good having a bit of background knowledge of sport. I use the products and I wear the clothes that we sell, so I can give really truthful and helpful feedback."

Ms Cooper said she loved assisting all women to find clothes that suited their body type.

"We've got a few new brands that I am pretty passionate about," she said.

"We have a new brand that offers sizes six to 22 so it caters to all women and I love showing ladies that brand and finding options for everyone."

Miss Cooper said thanks to the support of her boss she would soon expand her training and take on new responsibilities in store.

"It doesn't even feel like work, it is such a fun workplace and we are always doing different things and setting up new toys or testing out stock," she said.

"Maybe I'll just stay here forever and run the business one day."
