Arts Out There: Artists to form a creative space in 2020

Esperance Community Arts' core purpose is to promote, coordinate, support and build capacity and sustainability of the Arts in Esperance and surrounding areas through the practice of community arts.
The year 2019 has seen increased use of this space as an open studio for artists and crafters. This has created additional interest for visitors and facilitated some wonderful connections between local artists.
We are excited to be extending this model in 2020 by establishing a working space for local artists Pauline Bonney and Suzie Bonney from Karnpi Designs to take up residence at 67 Dempster Street on an ongoing basis.
Pauline and Suzie are also developing Karnpi Designs as an online business. They are especially interested in creating prints that can be used on textiles.
Their plans for the space includes running workshops for children and adults and developing activities for visitors. Pauline and Suzie will also have original artworks and prints on display and for purchase.
The Artist in Residence space will open at varying times, so call ahead if you want to be sure to catch them.
The Gibson Fireshed Quilters put on a special display for the visiting Cruise Ship and received over 300 visitors, we had around 25 people showcasing the MEGAFlora sculptures and costumes in the Christmas Pageant, and we have had a visit from the pre -primary students from Nulsen Primary School.
We are also busy preparing for new projects in 2020. We know of at least six mural projects in the pipeline, creating opportunities for local artists. Esperance Community Arts is thrilled to be partnering with the Esperance Lions Club, Pauline Bonney and Esti Nagy on the first of these at Esperance Health Campus, schedule to begin in mid -January.
Esperance Community Arts Space opening hours will vary over the next three weeks so check our Facebook page for updates.
