Esperance Junior Fire Brigade excel at State Championships

The Annual Junior Fire Brigade Championships was held in Fremantle from November 30 to December 1 with brigades from all over WA competing.

In a spirited weekend of intense competition between the 40 competing teams, five state records were broken with Esperance 1 taking two of them.

Those were Disable Hose Practice 4 competitor Juniors Esperance 1 13.81 and Two Competitor Flaked Hose Juniors Esperance 1 11.07.

Overall Champion Brigade was Harvey 1 with a convincing 178 points from Esperance 1 with 76 points.

There was an interesting tussle in the Junior Division with Esperance 2 throwing out an unexpected challenge which split the Esperance Brigade points giving Harvey 1 Brigade a point allocation advantage.

The results were Harvey 1 94 points, Esperance 1 56 points ,Esperance 2 36 points and Coolgardie 25 points.

Champion Junior Fireman was E Rojo from Harvey 1 with Aden Close from Esperance 1 and Jarrard Campbell from North Kalgoorlie tying for third place.

In the sprints, Natalie Ferguson was second in the Sub junior girls and Joy Ferguson second in the Junior Girls and Reggie Stacey gained fourth place in the men's division.

Esperance coach's Harry Moir and Brian Willoughby were thrilled with the performances of their team members and the way they conducted themselves over the competition weekend.

The Junior season has now completed and training for the Senior Competition year will commence in early in January, 2020.
