Esperance anglers score some great catches

Very hot and calm conditions greeted members at the November meeting weather wise and the fish did not come on the bite until late morning.

This meant that plenty of sunscreen and water was required to combat the conditions and the anglers benefited with some good catches.

Numbers were down with five boats and 10 Anglers participating and the highlight of the day was a capture of a Bluefin Tuna by Rob Tate which won him the $325 Prize Fish Jackpot from Tateys Fishing World.

He was also entered into the Fines Book for winning his own prize, but I believe the prize has been shared by the other angler in the boat.

Champion Angler was a fight between Ricky Grant and Tyson Tate and Ricky won the Champion Boat with Rob Tate from Tateys Fishing World.

Champion Junior was Tahj Hotker and no Lady participated this venue.

The heaviest fish weighed in was the 7.07kg Bluefin Tuna caught by Rob Tate.

There were several species winners being Nigel Worth - Heaviest Breaksea Cod and Sweep, John King - Heaviest Wrasse and Herring, Tahj Hotker - Heaviest Harlequin and Snook, Ricky Grant - Heaviest Leatherjacket, Red Snapper & Swallowtail and Ash Newton - Heaviest Queen Snapper & Squid.

The other Species Winners were Tyson Tate - Heaviest Sand Whiting, Thomas Tate - Heaviest Flathead and Rob Rawlinson - Heaviest Skipjack.

The Tateys Fishing World $325 Jackpot Species being the Heaviest Bluefin Tuna was finally won by Rob Tate after 17 months of everyone trying to win it.

It now falls back to $25 for the December Venue for a Yellowtail Kingfish.

The winners of the Money Wheel were Ricky Grant twice, John King and Nigel Worth.

The Southern Sports & Tackle Mug of the Month Jackpot of $20 was won by Ash Newton.

The next Fish & Chip Night will be on Friday 6th December and the next Venue will be on Sunday 8th December.

The club has recently installed the new Stainless Steel Cleaning Benches and they look great.

These are part of the clubs refurbishment and there will be other projects in the future.

The club will also be having a Social Weekend at Munglinup Beach Caravan Park on February 22 with members and friends fishing the river and lakes in dinghies and kayaks.

So if you are interested book the weekend out and contact either President Ben Strautins or Secretary Brett Thorp.

Calm seas and tight lines.
