Esperance Speedway to host Kalgoorlie riders in regional challenge

The red dirt descends on the surf at the Esperance Holden Speedway this Saturday night for round 1 of the Esperance vs Kalgoorlie challenge. Travelling Kalgoorlie drivers from various divisions will take on the Esperance locals to see which club is the dominant force.

The New Era Shearing Junior Sedans continue to have strong numbers this season, something the club is proud to see. The All-Star Junior division will see the Brown brothers of Cameron, Kaden and Logan taking on Hayden Mortimer who set the pace last meeting. Kalgoorlie drivers unfortunately will not be represented in the All Star ranks for the challenge this weekend however, the racing will be fast amongst these young drivers.

The Rookie Junior Division will feature Kalgoorlie drivers of Cam Aldrick and Amber Shore, both nominating to take on the strong field of Esperance rookies. Aldrick showed plenty of pace last meeting and is set to be a hot contender this weekend. The pressure will be applied by the Dickerson's of Hayley and Chris along with Charlie Tate who has displayed plenty of pace. Youngsters of Sean Kirwan, George Tate, Jackson Goodwin and Kayde Anthony will also be in the mix.

The Esperance Outdoor Power Equipment Street Stocks look to have a strong car count this weekend. Kalgoorlie drivers Travis Moynihan, Luke Barnewall and WA1 Jack Barnewall have nominated so far. Luke Barnewall showed pace last meeting while Moynihan has been a front runner at previous challenge events in the past. Current state champion Jack Barnewall will be the one to watch but he will have local favourite Zane Humphrys taking the challenge to him. These two have had spectacular battles over the years and will no doubt put on a show again this weekend. Wade Rigney has a handle of his new FG Falcon and will have pace this weekend. Newcomer Nathan Fletcher starts his rookie season this weekend in the ex Rigney EL Falcon. Dylan Williams and Linton Dickerson could be the dark horses, while Tristan Stroet and Jared Bridges look to have their opening night mechanical problems behind them.

The Natrad Esperance Production Sedan division will keep the crowd on their toes. Travis Clarke ad Jeff Pahl will represent Kalgoorlie, but they will have to bring their A game as the lightning fast Ford Cortina of Hamish Macalpine will be the one to beat. Reigning club champion Sean Barrett last meeting showed he was capable of keeping pace with Macalpine and looks set to take it to him again. Tye Tyrrell has his commodore engine tuned up ready for battle, while Josh Macalpine has nominated in his new Ford Cortina. Josh was a front runner last season in his brothers Cortina and hopes to continue that trend this season in his own car. Jeff Dickerson and Blake Fletcher have been busy repairing their cars over the last 2 weeks, both sustaining heavy damage to their cars after altercations with the concrete fence at the opening meeting. Gary Leeson might get to make his production sedan debut this weekend as he edges closer to completing the build of his new BA Falcon.

The V8 sound of the AMCA Nationals will be back on track this Saturday night. Kalgoorlie drivers of David Boyes and Sean Mazuchelli will take on Esperance drivers of Greg Horan and Murray Parsons JNR. Fast pace action from these 4 drivers will be exciting to watch as each of them are more than qualified at taking the win

The Esperance Combined Tyre and Mechanical Burnout Division will continue to fry tyres and make smoke clouds as drivers punish their machines again this weekend. Last meeting winner Luke O'shannessy along with Sheehan Varney will be missing from local competition as they both will be contending the Narrogin Revheads burnout competition in Narrogin. This leaves the door open for new drivers to tackle the podium. The ever-consistent Jaydon Hurst, Shannon Anthony & Jake Cracknell will be hot favourites while Kael Lawrence and Michael Green look to put on a solid performance. Jamie Goodwin will tackle the pad for the 1st time in his Ford turbo powered Nissan Skyline.
