It's our favourite time of the week, a chance to reflect on the changes in Esperance, the faces and the fun that was being had 10 years ago this week.

Esperance took home the Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Award for the South Coast region.

The town also won three of the six South Coast achievement awards on offer including; Community Action, Recycling and Waste Management, and Enhancing Cultural Identity

Esperance's tourism industry was recognised with two Esperance businesses nominated as finalists for the 2009 WA Tourism awards.

The Esperance Visitors Centre was nominated in the Visitor Information category, while the Esperance Island View Apartments was named a finalist in the Deluxe Accomodation category.

Six riders from the Esperance Motocross Cub represented the town at the Australian ATV Nationals in South Australia.

A Family Fishing Fun Day was held at Bandy Creek with over 100 competitors enjoying the day and collecting trailer loads of rubbish.

It was revealed that the Esperance Port Authority recorded a $1.7 million loss in the 2008 financial year - the port's first recorded loss in the past 20 years.
