Helms Gardens will welcome visitors this Sunday, October 6, during its annual open day event to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Garden owner and creator Lyn Ling said gates opened from about 10am to 4.30pm, providing ample time to discover all of the garden's hidden features.

"It's just a beautiful place to wander around and enjoy other people's company and just be amazed at what nature gives us," Ms Ling said.

"The garden is full of flowers and bits and pieces from other people's gardens.

"Even if you are not a gardener I still think you'd find something interesting."

Gardening experts and novices can pick up tips from the 'Garden of Knowledge,' with local gardeners available to answer questions on topics ranging from soil to succulents.

Entry is $5 for adults and free for children with proceeds supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service, a cause Ms Ling said was close to the community.

"People in Esperance are amazing, they really get behind things like the Royal Flying Doctors," she said.

"We'd be a bit lost without them in the country areas."

The open day will feature a fashion parade by Secret Wishes at 1.30pm, raffle prizes donated by local craftspeople, a sausage sizzle and a delicious morning and afternoon tea.

Ms Ling said there are currently some special auction items already for sale on the Royal Flying Doctor Service Auxiliary website.

The gardens are located at Lot 28 Helms Drive. Contact Lyn Ling on 0429 886 200 for more information.
