After almost a year of rehearsals and unwavering dedication, by both students and teachers, young dancers from across Esperance have participated in the annual ComDance examinations.

The examination syllabus is set by internationally recognised dance body ComDance, formerly known as the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing.

Dance Devotion owner Jenny Muntz confirmed the studio had a whopping 80 entries for the exams this year, which the studio has hosted for more than a decade.

Students as young as seven undertook the exams to demonstrate their skills and technique in everything from classical ballet, to theatrical jazz and tap.

The two-day exam period commenced with 35 examinations on Thursday, August 15, and will continue on Friday, August 16.

Mrs Muntz said it was important to extend regional dancers the opportunity to pursue nationally recognised dance qualifications and that location not be a factor.

"It's certainly a unique opportunity for our students," she said.

"We couldn't be more proud of the way that they have presented themselves."

The examination results are expected to be released later this year.

The studio, established back in 2006, offer about 40 classes to those of all ages and skill levels.
