The 48th annual Esperance Music Festival is about to kick off with what can only be described as an overflowing cornucopia of entertainment!

This year's festival is generously supported by our major financial sponsor, Independence Group NL, and will be held at the Esperance Civic Centre between Thursday August 22 and Saturday August 24.

A record-breaking 228 entries were received this year, building again on last year's successful and immense program.

The Esperance community will be treated to solo, group and big band performances that span a range of diverse styles and genres.

Swoon to beautiful piano melodies, bop along to modern arrangements of popular tunes, and delight in wonderful vocal character solos and duets.

All this and much more for your listening pleasure awaits you at the music festival.

The festival is an important community event that reaches out to all musicians and schools from the Esperance and Goldfields region.

It attracts the likes of John Paul College from Kalgoorlie, who will bring a large contingent of performers down with them, and our smaller regional schools who are given an annual opportunity to showcase their talents on the big stage.

To help schedule the record number of performances over the three-day event, there will be the addition of a Saturday morning session commencing at 10am.

New look programmes are now available for purchase for $5 from the Dempster Street Newsagency.

The programme lists the performers and their scheduled times.

Tickets will only be sold at the door, with day sessions priced at $3 for adults, and $2 for concession and children.

Thursday evening ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for concession/children, and the Friday and Saturday evening sessions will be priced at $10 for adults and $5 for concession/children. Children under six are free.

Performers are encouraged to support other performers in their section for which they are performing, and to note that adjudicators comments will be read out at the end of their sections.

Any queries can be directed to the committee by email, espmusicfest@gmail.com.

We look forward to having you there!
