It's our favourite time of the week, a chance to reflect on the changes in Esperance, the faces and the fun that was being had 10 years ago this week.

Making headlines in August of 2009, local residents utilising the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme office at the Esperance Hospital were told that they could be forced to speak to an operator in Kalgoorlie from October 1, as the Esperance office was expected to close.

The Esperance Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its annual Business Awards, with Thorp Realty taking out business of the year.

The Adventureland Management Committee was awarded the Community Service Group Award, and the Tourism Excellence Award went to Esperance B&B by the Sea.

Sixteen year-old Hannah Vermeersch from Scaddan took home a gold medal after competing at the World Junior Rowing Championships in France.
