It's our favourite time of the week, a chance to reflect on the changes in Esperance, the faces and the fun that was being had 10 years ago this week.

Making headlines in August of 2009 was the celebration of Esperance business at the Esperance Chamber of Commerce and Industry gala dinner.

Thorp Realty took out the most prestigious award and was crowned Business of the Year, also winning an Award For Business with 10-20 Employees.

Company principal Brett Thorp described the honour as completely unexpected.

Also making news was a police fundraiser, with three officers shaving their heads.

Esperance Police raised nearly $6000 for Bluey Day, which supports children with cancer and other serious illnesses.

The fundraising haul easily surpassed the initial goal of $5000.
