The Esperance Golf Club has hosted its annual cancer fundraiser, raising more than $300 for the Esperance District Hospital.
The fundraiser was held on Wednesday, June 5, and was made possible through the generosity of the club's ladies competition members.
The raffle was won by one of the club's newest players, Nok Burge, following the stableford competition.
Fundraiser coordinator Gilly Backhouse said the annual initiative, which has been running for several years, provided an opportunity for the golf club to give back.
"We've been doing it for several years and we like for the money to go to the Esperance Hospital's oncology ward," Mrs Backhouse said.
"It's not a great deal of money but it certainly helps and it's nice to know that the money raised will stay in Esperance - that's important.
"In the past we've donated to the hospital and we just hope the money is able to go towards something else they might need."
The club wasted no time, turning the cheque over to Esperance Hospital staff the very next day.
Mrs Backhouse thanked those that had donated to the raffle for their generosity and for supporting the annual initiative.
"It's all the ladies' donations, they all participate," she said.
"They're all just wonderful.
"We have a wonderful group of members."
