Children have taken to Adventureland Park to enjoy the first day of the school holidays, practicing their tricks at the new bike track and shooting hoops following the opening of the basketball court.

The opening marks the first phase of the $500,000 upgrade to the Ralph Bower Adventureland Park, with the Shire of Esperance having contributed more than $258,000.

The redevelopment has been more than two decades in the making, made successful through the tireless efforts of The Adventureland Park Management Committee.

The Adventureland Park Implementation Plan was endorsed and released for feedback back in April 2018, which identified 10 key upgrades including a flying fox, giant swing, a playground, viewing tower, a children's bike track, large climbing net, basketball court upgrades and an upgrade to the maze.

Other park amenities that were also identified in the plan included a picnic area, footpaths, drink fountains and seating.

Construction began in February 2019 and is expected to be complete by mid-year.
