It’s our favourite time of the week – a chance to reflect on the changes in Esperance, the faces and the fun that was being had 10 years ago this week.

Making headlines in April 2009, the Esperance town was filled to capacity with visitors and tourists over the Easter weekend.

Forty members of the Gypsy Jokers motorcycle gang were denied entry to all licensed premises in Esperance for wearing their gang colours during the Easter long weekend.

Local speedway competitor Hamish MacAlpine was named Sports Star of the Week, after taking out the state super-mod title in Albany in March, 2009.

The Esperance Motorcycle Club held round one of the 2009 Motorcycling Western Australia Junior Motocross Championships with more than 120 competitors.
