It’s our favourite time of the week – a chance to reflect on the changes in Esperance, the faces and the fun that was being had 10 years ago this week.

Making headlines in the March 2009 edition, local pilot Greg Shaw was forced to make an emergency landing on Twilight Beach Road following a concerning noise coming from the engine of his 1942 Tiger Moth.

Local author Fleur McDonald released her debut novel Red Dust.

The Bijou Theatre underwent major restorations to ensure the longevity and durability of the theatre.

Esperance Theatre Guild life member and carpenter John Crawley and his team replaced the old floorboards and deteriorating stumps supporting the floor in the main auditorium.

Esperance Community Health cancer support coordinator Kym Sullivan was one of 44 to be awarded a national scholarship to develop her skills in caring for local women with breast cancer.
