The Esperance Lions Club is working to increase awareness of Parkinson's disease and create stronger support for those suffering with the illness and their families in the local community.
The club has been fundraising for increased availability of the Parkinson's nurse specialist to visit Esperance.
Club president Peter Dempster said the nurse currently visited once a year and the club aimed to fundraise to increase the visits to twice a year.
"This will improve the local community's access to this vital service," he said.
The club will hold a public awareness information night at the Pier Hotel Function Room on Tuesday, March 19 from 7:30pm.
Parkinson's nurse specialist Jo Chadwick and her local team of support staff will give the presentations.
Information discussed will include an explanation of the disease, key numbers, treatment and services available and the role of the nurse specialist.
