The 10th Light Horse Esperance Troop will hold their first training and assessment for ANZAC Day 2019 on Sunday, March 10.

The training will be held from 9:00am at the Esperance Showgrounds.

The troop, which was originally formed in April 2016, works to maintain the history, values and traditions of the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment by representing the regiment at important events in Esperance and surrounding areas.

Both riders and non-riders are welcome to attend the training or to simply come and see what the Light Horse are all about.

Esperance Light Horse member Kymberly Roberts encouraged members of the community to join in for their the group's drill and assessment day.

"There is no pressure with the light horse and it's fun," she said.

Those bringing a horse need to bring their safety equipment.

Ms Roberts said the troop hoped the event would encourage new members and inspire younger people to get involved as volunteers with ANZAC Day.
