Esperance Community Arts has received $26,651 for the Nyungar Boodja: Welcome to Country Mural Project.

Esperance Community Arts will work with the families of traditional owners in the Esperance region to design and develop four murals celebrating Nyungar culture and to create a visual Welcome to Country in Esperance.

The project will be an opportunity for local regional artists and young people to learn new skills and share cultural knowledge over the course of four community workshops.

The project is one of five regional projects in WA to share in more than $109,000 in funding from the Regional Arts Fund through Country Arts WA.

Country Arts WA executive director Paul MacPhail said the funding would provide valuable opportunities for communities to develop their skills and boost engagement with the arts.

“The projects funded demonstrate the value of community involvement in the creative direction of arts projects,” he said.

More to come.
