Depth of Esperance talent continues to astound

There Goes The Sun on Saturday evening, January 19, at The Cannery Arts Centre was an absolute dream.

The depth of talent in the local music scene continues to astound me.

Honestly, I can’t thank the musicians enough.

The event was a flawless victory.

I’d like to raise a glass to the volunteers who drive these events, as they are all absolute legends, and to the local crew who attended.

They are such an amazing bunch lending there good vibes to what was a stellar evening.

Papers once stacked high on my desk have slowly but surely begun to reside.

Ideas that swirled non-stop through December and January have come to fruition in the form of WA’S Finest (A Series).

WA’S finest will run from Saturday, February 9, through until April 13 and features all of the 2018 WAM best regional act Nominees, and the winner, accompanied by local acts across live gigs and free workshops set to be held at The Cannery Arts Centre.

I cannot thank our local sponsors enough – Dudley Newton Optometrists, Elders Insurance and Elpha.

There is no doubt a feature article in here somewhere pertaining to this project though I just had to give it a mention.

You can find more information and tickets to our first live gig, featuring Blue Child Collective (full band), on February 9 at www.canneryartscentre.com.au or www.kyzapresents.com

As one project drops I can’t help but look further afield, stacked paper is replaced by scribbling and eraser off cuts.

I wish I was better at building in mental time down, a day will come that I have no choice on that front, for now coffee keeps me sane.

A key element of the local music scene resides in Open Mics.

I think our last at The Cannery was in November and were well past due.

Join us in The Cannery Art Centre courtyard for a classic Open Mic that doubles as as a closing party for the fantastic exhibition Flotsam and Jetsam supported by IGO and the Shire of Esperance.

The cruisy afternoon kicks off at 4pm on Sunday, February 3.

Pa and drums will be provided.

Entry will be $5 and attendees are welcome to BYO beverages and nibbles.

See you there!
