January:

  • Georgia Gregory becomes the first woman to win the Australia Day Swim Thru, completing the 2.5 kilometre swim in just 37 minutes and seven seconds.
  • South East Runners athletes Zoe Maccan and Jessie Eltringham place in the WA State Championships.
  • Esperance locals Harriet and William Wildberger attend the Hopman Cup tournament as Ballkids.

February:

  • Esperance Little Athletics Club members Sophie Walker, Monique Walker, Chloe Gidgup and Regan Mott take away medals at the annual Country Championships in Bunbury.

March: 

  • Former AFL coach and player Kevin Sheedy taking the Esperance Football Association’s Talent squad for a training session.
  • More than 123 people gathered at Ports Football Club to meet and train with AFL legends Glen Jakovich and Dane Swan.
  • United Army take out 7 point win over United Black in the Men’s A Grade Basketball grand final.

April:

  • Esperance Tennis Club hold their annual Club Championships and end of season awards, with Aerostorm’s William Wildberger, Hugo Luxton, Oscar Jeitz, Katie Goodman and Jorja Montgomerie taking out A Grade team.
