Esperance Seniors treated to annual Christmas Dinner

More than 135 seniors have gathered at the Esperance Civic Centre for the annual Seniors’ Christmas Dinner on Sunday evening, December 2, waited on by councillors, directors and staff from the Esperance Shire Council.

Opening the evening, Shire president Victoria Brown wished attendees a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thanked Apex, the Senior Citizens Centre, Civic Centre staff and Saltwater Catering for their contribution to the evening.

“I would like to thank all the staff and councillors who volunteered their time for the Seniors’ Christmas Dinner last night, and the community members who volunteered their time to entertain the crowd,” she said.

“Shane Tobin and his team, chief executive officer Matthew Scott and wife Cindy and Directors Shane Burge, Terry Sargent and Matt Walker and Councillors Bowman, McIntyre, Padgurskis, McMullen and Parsons and wife Shauna.

“The crowd was entertained by Tim Currie, Erin Kinson and the Esperance Primary School choir, Fiona Ryan Dance Academy, Gail Saunders and the Esperance Anglican Community School band and Irene Melbourne accompanying Sing Australia Esperance.

“Thanks to Apex for the bus service to and from the venue.

“A fabulous night with delicious food and the wonderful company of our community Seniors.

“This kicks off our festive season and I look forward to more to come, with the Christmas Pageant this Sunday.”

Mrs Brown also extended a happy birthday to Brian Pearce, who celebrates his 85th birthday on Monday, December 3.
