Esperance Speedway season begins

The MCD Contracting Esperance Speedway will return to action this Saturday night.

After a long winter the drivers will be eagerly awaiting the chance to get back behind the wheel and hit the track.

The opening meeting also doubles as the South East Petroleum Supermod Country Round.

The New Era Shearing Junior Sedans will return to Esperance Speedway this season with two new drivers and the return of the Brown family.

Cameron Brown, together with his brothers Logan and Kaden, will be itching to get back into their Daihatsu Charades and put on a show for the crowd.

Newcomers Christopher Dickerson and Hayley Dickerson will grab a piece of history on Saturday night as they become the second set of siblings to be third generation Speedway racers here at Esperance Speedway.

Christopher will pilot a Datsun Sunny and Hayley will drive the clubs Daihatsu Charade junior development car this season.

The Speedway would like to thank the whole team at Dicko Racing for making the Junior Development car a reality.

The Esperance Outdoor Power Equipment Street Stocks are the next division with a rookie driver this season.

Wade Rigney will make his debut this weekend in the ex-Garry Leeson Falcon.

Wade has completed many laps at practise and looks to have a good grip behind the wheel.

Street Stock Stalwart Zane Humphrys will return again for his 15th consecutive season behind the wheel.

The familiar orange number 39 will once again be smooth, fast and once again up the front.

Linton Dickerson returns for a full season after coming out of retirement late last year.

After an altercation with the concrete at practise and a few late nights since to get the commodore sorted Linton will be looking for a trouble free race meeting.

Dylan William will return for his second season in the mighty XF Falcon and will be a big improver every meeting.

Hamish Macalpine will pilot the immaculate VZ commodore and Sean Barrett will return to Street Stock Racing in a VP Commodore that could tell some stories.

The Production Sedan division welcome Blake Fletcher to senior racing this weekend.

Blake will pilot his Charade from juniors last season with a few modifications.

Tye Tyrrell returns to racing this weekend after a few years away from the sport, Tye will campaign the ex-Barrett commodore.

Paul Eather will be back in the Skyline and Josh Macalpine is back in the Cortina.

Sean Barrett will debut his new Holden VZ Commodore and will need to be in peak physical condition as he has double duties this weekend in both Productions and Street Stocks.

The Esperance Combined Tyre and Mechanical Burnout Division has been bolstered this season with new drivers and cars and the return of V8’s to the burnout Pad.
