Building solid customer relationships and going above and beyond has secured Taylor Street Quarters’ senior waitress Rebecca Baines this month’s Esperance Chamber of Commerce and Industry Customer Service of the Month Award.

Mrs Baines, who has been working at the establishment since March, said she had no idea she had been nominated and appreciated the recognition.
“To have had that appreciation just for doing my job... it’s nice,” Mrs Baines said.
“I’ve been working in hospitality my whole life, from the time I was 18.
“I left [hospitality] for a little bit and I quit within three days – I love it.
“I couldn’t work in an office, I needed that interaction and I love the pace here, too.
“There is a lot of one-on-one time with the customers and that’s something I missed.
“I think that’s what hospitality is all about – making the customers feel at home, welcome and building up that relationship.
“I’m not sure what I did, I just love my job.”
Mrs Baines was nominated by regular patrons of the restaurant, who described her as an exceptional representative for her employers.
“We are regulars to Taylor Street Quarters and we’ve witnessed Bec working hard to build solid customer relationships with Taylor Street Quarters’ patrons,” the nominator said.
“She goes one step further than supplying friendly, quality customer service; speaking for ourselves, she remembers our favourite beverages and dishes and knows which new dishes will likely appeal to our tastes.

With the busy summer season fast approaching, Mrs Baines said she was definitely going to be kept busy.
Eventually, Mrs Baines said she has dreams of establishing her own business.
“It’s like any job, it does have its ups and downs but overall I’d never leave hospitality,” she said.
“I want to eventually have my own business.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”
As a recipient of the monthly award, Mrs Baines will go into the running to win the Esperance Chamber of Commerce’s Customer Service of the Year Award.
