Esperance stingray injury

A fisherman was barbed by a stingray on the foot off the Esperance coast on Thursday, October 11.

Esperance Volunteer Marine Rescue Service received the call at 1:00pm.

The Marine Rescue Service estimated he was around 30 nautical miles off the coast and said he was in a lot of pain.

The man was brought to shore in front of the Esperance Bay Yacht Club.

Esperance Police and St John Ambulance also attended the scene.

The patient was taken to Esperance Health Campus at around 4:15pm by St John Ambulance for further observation and treatment.
