The annual Girls Football Carnival between Esperance Senior High School, Esperance Anglican Community School, John Paul College and Kalgoorlie Boulder Community School was held on Tuesday, September 18 at Ports Oval.
Esperance Senior High School girls have been training on Thursday mornings for the last 10 weeks and their hard work and dedication definitely paid off.
Esperance beat Kalgoorlie Boulder 28-7
Esperance beat Esperance Anglican 73-0
We were due to play John Paul College in the last round robin game, but this game would have had no effect on the Grand Final so the decision was made to play the Grand Final with John Paul College and Esperance playing four quarters instead of two separate games.
Esperance started off strong with some great goals before half time, holding John Paul to only two points.
John Paul then came back in the third quarter with two goals and the score was 15-14 going into the last quarter to Esperance.
We responded with two goals early on taking a great lead and Esperance won with a score of 26-15.
There was some great football played on the day and it was extremely hard to pick a best on ground for our team.
The whole team pulled together and blew me away with their grit, determination and skills.
Keeping possession of the ball and putting immense pressure on their opponents all day.
Congratulations to the Esperance team and the amazing football they played throughout the day.
A well-deserved win.
