The Western Australian Cricket Association are set to arrive in the Goldfields-Esperance region next week, September 10, as part of ‘PlayCricket Week’.
The statewide initiative will involve members from the Association visiting local schools and running community events in a bid to encourage children to sign up to cricket for the upcoming season.
Goldfields region Cricket manager Chris Secker said the WACA would also host a free ‘Come & Try’ night on Thursday evening, September 13, at Ports Oval from 4pm until 5pm.
Children between the ages of five and 17 are able to sign up, with junior blaster, master blaster and junior cricket teams.
Mr Secker said the aim was to get as many people to come and try the sport on the Thursday night as possible.
The event schedule is jam-packed with activities, a blow up cricket net and giveaways and will include a visit from the Perth Scorchers bus and the WACA mascot.
