Year 5 mates take out a stack of Esperance Hockey Association awards

Two Year 5 friends have taken home more than 10 hockey awards and accolades between them last weekend, in two age divisions.

Archie Roberts took out Esperance Hockey Association’s highest accolade of Fairest and Best Year 4/5 Boy as well as Most Valuable Player for his team, Woven. Archie was also the second highest goal scorer with 20 goals this season.

He also steps up to play in the Y6/7/8 competition each week, and drew to win the runner-up Fairest and Best Boy as well as Most Valuable Player for his team, Duke of Orleans Bay Caravan Park. His coach, Renae Spenser, said that Archie had been a delight to coach, especially as the youngest player on the team.

Archie’s class mate, Zach Warren, also plays in both competitions, and won runner-up Fairest & Best Boy in the Y4/5 comp, as well as the Most Valuable Player for his team, Swans Vets. Zach also was the highest goal scorer with 25 goals. Zach’s team won the grand final on Saturday morning, with Zach being named as the Best on Ground.

In the Y6/7 competition, Zach won the Most Valuable Player for his team, Sportspower.

These two friends love to hang out together at school and sharing their love of hockey.
