Tireless efforts by community members wanting to put the pink back into Pink Lake, have been recognised with a Tidy Town nomination.
Esperance has been nominated for a Tidy Town award in the Environmental Sustainability category.
Pink Lake Recovery Group founder Chris Pope said he was extremely happy and described the nomination as an “awesome surprise”.
“The adjudicators from the Tidy Town awards were very pressed for time, Jason Rhodes took them out and showed the around,” he said.
“When Jason, the judges and myself got together I had about 10 minutes.
“They responded very positively to the direction we’ve been going in."
Winners will be announced on September 21.
The awards are supported by the Waste Authority, Tourism Western Australia, REX Airlines, Skippers, West Australian Regional Newspapers and Main Roads WA.
