The Esperance Crisis Accommodation Centre is hosting an open day for Lachie’s House on Thursday, August 9.
The event from 11:00am to 2:00pm is being run during Homelessness Week from August 6 to August 12.
Event organiser Simone Wylde said being homeless included more than sleeping rough under a bridge.
“It includes women, couples and families that have experienced various issues including loss of employment, overcrowding and family breakdowns, that find themselves without a permanent stable place to call their own,” she said.
“We hope to spark discussion with the broader community that may lead to longer-term strategies to reduce the risk of future homelessness for people within our region.”
Lachie’s House provides supported crisis accommodation to women, men, couples and families.
The theme of 2018 Homelessness Week is ‘Ending homelessness together’.
