On Sunday, July 15, the Esperance Clay Target Club hosted the Continental Double Barrel Championship.

Competitors travelled from Kalgoorlie, Hopetoun and Salmon Gums to compete in the event.

The weather was quite windy and very challenging for all competitors involved.

The morning event comprised of a 50 Double Barrel Continental warm up event, which was won overall by Dennis Rollond (Salmon Gums).

The afternoon comprised of the championship event, and a total of 4 shooters finished the event on the same score of 47/50 targets hit.

This resulted in a ‘miss and walk’ style of elimination shoot-off which saw the group shrink to just two remaining shooters, in Quinn Marsh (Kalgoorlie) and Neville Karger (Esperance).

After some nervous moments from the shooters and the crowd watching, coming through with the win was Neville Karger from Esperance, winning his first Esperance Club Championship!

A special mention to Helen Freeman (Esperance) who won the combined B & C grades in this event.

Overall, the day was a great success and everyone involved had a great time.
