The Esperance Aero Club held a flight and sausage sizzle fundraiser to support a local team competing in the Royal Flying Doctor Service Outback Air Race.
Esperance Aero Club member Aimee Chapman said longstanding Club member Rob Donaldson and former member Chook Henderson were competing in the race as ‘Team Mellow Yellow’.
“The GPS based navigation time trial throughout remote Australia is held every three years and exists to raise funds for the RFDS,” she said.
“The Esperance Aero Club fundraiser raised over $800 for the worthy cause.”
The fundraiser involved 16 local aircrafts and over 30 people flying to Orleans Farm for a sausage sizzle on Sunday, April 8, with some members stopping at Lake Hillier.
“The coastline was stunning with the breathtaking crystal blue waters and white sand,” Ms Chapman said.
Members of the Club donated sausages and barbecue supplies.
Ms Chapman said the Esperance Aero Club were welcoming new members and encouraged anyone interested in learning to fly or becoming a member to visit their Facebook page.
