Esperance Little Athletics Centre have received expert coaching from the state’s Little Athletics program in a bid to support regional athletes.
The training was made possible by a Community Support grant of $500 from the Shire of Esperance, helping the Club cover the costs of the program.
Esperance Little Athletics Club president Linda Tobin said ten parent and club volunteers participated in the Introduction to Coaching program aimed at providing basic coaching and training for Little Athletes of primary school age.
“Esperance Little Athletics Centre volunteers learnt skills, drill, games and general conditioning activities that will be used to further develop club athletes,” she said.
“In the long term our athletes at Esperance Little Athletics will benefit and we expect to see many more personal best performances in sprints, long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, shot put and javelin.”
The course delivered coaching principles that enhanced the athletic skills of sprinting, jumping and throwing.
