Strong result for junior firies

THE Esperance Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service competition team competed in the 2018 State Open Fire Brigade Championships held in Mandurah over the Labour Day long weekend.

The two-day competition produced a number of new record times with the Hydrant Race winner and second place both breaking the existing record. There was two grades of competition with the Open section being won by Bassendean from Harvey and Mandurah. The C-grade was won by Harvey on 36 points from Bunbury on 33 and Esperance with 28. Competition was extremely keen over the weekend with some very close finishes.

On March 17 the Esperance Brigade hosts the Goldfields Zone Fire Brigade Championships and expects participation from all the six zone brigades to determine the Champion Goldfields Brigade. The public is invited to view this exciting event on the Saturday afternoon.

Esperance coach’s Harry Moir and Brian Willoughby were pleased with the young Esperance running team’s commitment and competitive result in Mandurah.
