A draft plan to support mental health for fly in, fly out workers has been released for public consultation.
Mining minister Bill Johnston encouraged the public to comment on the plan, which he said would help lower the state’s rate of self-harm.
“Tragically, on average, one Western Australian takes their life every day,” he said.
“The draft code aims to provide companies with guidance on managing mental illness.
“Creating a mentally healthy workplace not only benefits the mental health and wellbeing of the workforce but builds trust and respect, and enhances an organisation’s reputation.
“The draft code aims to provide companies that employ FIFO workers with guidance on managing mental illness at work.”
Mr Johnston said the Government was committed to improving workplace health and safety.
