Police discover body in Gibson area

After a week-long search, Police have confirmed they have found a body believed to be that of missing Castletown man Colin Johnson.

In a statement released late this afternoon, February 12, Police said the body was found in a vehicle in the Gibson area.

Formal identification is yet to take place and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Family and friends of the missing 47-year-old had conducted their own foot and vehicle search over the weekend, February 10 and 11, with no sign of him since Monday morning, February 5.

More than 50 people and 30 vehicles covered an area of more than 200 kilometres along the south east coast, searching as far inland as Grass Patch.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
