The Esperance Goldfields Surf Life Saving club held a Nipper’s Carnival at Twilight Beach on Sunday, February 11.
The carnival started at 9am, with 60 junior surfers or ‘nippers’ attending the event.
The club, which has been keeping Esperance beaches safe for over 20 years, hosts three junior events per season for children aged five to 12.
The nippers received points for participating.
After the season’s carnivals are finished a nipper from each age group will be awarded based on their points over the three events.
The Junior Championship on March 18 will end the Nippers season, where one nipper per age group will receive a championship medal.
The club runs Sunday patrol training every Sunday until Easter, with the Senior Championship scheduled for the following week.
Separate competitions are held for older cadets.
