Natural disaster training will be held in Esperance at the Civic Centre.
Bookings are available for all community service organisations and training takes place on Monday, February 12 2018.
The workshop will be hosted by the WA Council of Social Services as part of a grant by the Australian Government.
Workshop facilitator and veteran of Darwin’s Cyclone Tracy, Stuart Reid will run the training.
Mr Reid said people in community service sectors don’t focus on natural disasters.
“But if they have done some planning they will be in a better position to continue providing much needed services,” he said.
“Preparing for a disaster strengthens an organisation, gives staff the tools and skills to understand how to operate when a natural disaster hits, and makes a real difference in the lives of the people, families and communities that are affected.”
Small organisations and volunteer groups are not required to pay the $25 fee.
The workshop runs from 9:00am to 3:30pm.
