WA Farmers will have the opportunity to learn about the world’s first completely automatically operated farm technology later in February.
Hands Free Hectare Project has received international attention since their research team grew an entire acre of spring barley crop without humans stepping on the field in 2017.
Crown Perth is hosting the forum on February 26 and 27, 2018.
The research team sowed and harvested crop, producing 4.5 tonnes per hectare by equipping traditional farming technology with autopilot drones.
WAFarmers president Tony York said humans would still be needed for farming and new technologies would give people the opportunity to up-skill.
“Every day, new technological advancements are opening up opportunities for farmers to change the way they farm,” he said.
“New innovations are continually increasing on-farm efficiencies which allows farmers to re-develop their programs, often generating higher returns for producers and increasing market access opportunities.”
