Ladies Pennants – January 6
ESPERANCE Blue played host to Scaddan in the ladies pennant competition last Saturday, January 6.
Both Esperance teams were quick off the blocks gaining a handy lead before a determined Scaddan got their rhythm going.
Fran Norwood and Elaine Rule played strong consistent lead and third bowls which were backed up by Carmel McEwan and skipper Margaret Cahill.
The opposing Scaddan team skipped by Shirlene Ellison came back strongly but were unable to gain the lead.
On the adjoining rink Esperance Blue, skipped by Jill Burnside, had a good tussle against the team skipped by Margaret Hesford.
Scores were close until the 20th end when Sue Virgo, playing third, played a great conversion shot to change the end from two down to three up.
Esperance Blue were therefore able to take the win.
Anne Neumann from Scaddan played a strong role as second.
Esperance Gold were also at home against Condingup.
Marilyn Jackson's team of Ollie Austin, Rosie White and Roz Chapman continued on their winning way against the Condingup team skipped by Rachael Young.
All four Esperance girls played very strong team bowls to take a good victory.
The other Gold team skipped by Jan Fiegert were also combining well against the Condingup team lead by Helen Perks.
Backed up by Sarah Bracknell, June Mincham and Edna Barlow, Jan Fiegert was able to keep the lead giving the Esperance Gold side the four points and a very clear lead on the pennant table.

Esperance Gold 56 to Condingup 31 – 4 points;
Esperance Blue 45 to Scaddan 36 – 4 points.
