Esperance has held its first ‘Launch Pad’ event, raising $400 for a local idea chosen by attendees.
Fifty people attended the community event, with the purpose of bringing new projects to fruition in the town.
Of the three ideas presented, the majority of attendees voted for the ‘Water Storage’ project, presented by Brad McMeikan, which involved the Esperance man utilising the ‘abundance’ of water on his property to begin a local Market Garden.
Under the proposal, locals would be able to assist with the current garden, hire a plot, and help develop the space as they see fit.
Event spokesperson Samara Clark said the project’s potential was ‘massive’.
Ideas can be submitted now for the next ‘Launch Pad’, set for February, 2018. For more, see www.thevillage.vision/launchpad
