Esperance women take home wins

It was a stormy day for the ladies pennants games with both Esperance Blue and Esperance Gold playing at home against Condingup and Scaddan.

The Blue team of Jill Burnside, Margie Rance, Sue Virgo and Margaret Blanchett got off to a handy lead and with the team melding well, managed to hold off the always threatening team of Rachael Young, Di Chapman, Sarah Haynes and Sue Burgham to take the game with a good win.

The other Blue team also started well with Elaine Rule and Fran Norwood playing good bowls.

Condingup, with great shots from Judy Lithgow and skipper Helen Perks, managed to keep Condy in touch but Marg Cahill playing some great upshots to move the kitty ensured the win for Blue.

Result – Esperance Blue 4, Condingup 0.

Esperance Gold v Scaddan

The Esperance Gold team of Marilyn Jackson, Ollie Austin, Rosie White and Roz Chapman found the conditions challenging against an in-form Trish Stone and her Scaddan team of Lyn Ietto, Lorraine Piercey, and Marg Vandenberge.

With the weather clearing a little, Esperance managed to close the gap due to excellent bowling from Rosie White and taking the lead came away eventual winners by three shots.

On the adjoining rink the Esperance Gold team of Jan Fiegert, Sarah Bracknell, June Mincham and Edna Barlow also got off to a slow start against the side of Shirlene Ellison, Judy Paterson, Marg Hesford and Caroline Williams.

Scaddan were off to a handy start with Caroline Williams leading well until Jan Fiegert and Edna Barlow with good steadying bowls were able to get the Gold side back into the game and take the win also by three shots.

Result - Esperance Gold 4, Scaddan 0
