The Esperance Senior High School team have returned victorious from the Australasian Pacific finals for Tournament of Minds.
The team represented the state in the Language Literature division against nine teams from Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam and Thailand.
Students Jack Hughes, Sam Jefferies, Jesse Marshall, Hudson Staer, Sammy Ryan-Galloway, Meg Baker and Kalira Docherty, along with facilitators Lois Saunders and Jazmin Parker, travelled to Adelaide for the finals of the competition after winning their division at the state final in Perth in September.
Ms Saunders said the students were ‘outstanding’ in their ability to collaborate, think critically and solve the challenges creatively.
“I admired how the team worked together to generate a thoughtful and clever solution to the challenge,” she said.
The critical and creative thinking competition, held on October 26, encouraged the students from years seven to 10 to present a solution to a spontaneous puzzle in the form of a 10 minute performance before a judging panel following a three-hour challenge.
The school’s team won the same division trophy in 2015.
