Esperance Police find car stolen from Rockingham in 2014

A car stolen around two and half years ago has been recovered by Esperance Police after they received word of a suspicious vehicle approaching town.

Around 2.00pm yesterday, October 11, Great Southern Police in Albany and Denmark clued in local police to a vehicle with possible false licence plates was headed towards Esperance, due to arrive around 2.45pm.

Esperance Police stopped the Land Rover Discovery at 3.10pm on Harbour Road Chadwick, near South Coast Highway.

A 21-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were taken into custody as a result of inquiries.

The vehicle had been stolen in February 2014 from Rockingham and will be returned to the owner.

The owner was surprised and relieved to have his vehicle recovered after such a long time, and in a driveable condition.

The man from Armadale was charged with unlawful possession of a vehicle and driving on a suspended licence. He will appear in Esperance Magistrate Court next month.

The woman from Perth was charged with breach of bail and will appear in Kalgoorlie Magistrate Court via video link from Esperance today.
