Next weekend will be jam packed with events and the town will be bustling! It’s show time and many of us will be at the Show Grounds for the 66th Annual Esperance and Districts Agricultural Show.
It is a true credit to everyone involved in bringing the show to life. I’d like to thank the Agricultural Society Committee and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to bring this show together. Agricultural Shows are an important part in many of our lives giving us an opportunity to show off what we have to offer, and we have one of the best Agricultural Shows in rural WA. We will get to see local arts and crafts and agricultural achievements as well as two full days of sporting activities, displays and entertainment.
When you visit the show make sure you pop by the Shire stall to say hello. Shire Councillors, Youth Councillors and staff will be there to have a chat and answer any questions you may have. There’ll also be a special visit from Willy WasteNot and Dippy Duck! There will be membership deals and giveaways from the Bay of Isles Leisure Centre and prizes to help you recycle. There’ll be information about Esperance’s Waste Revolution, the brand new Indoor Sports Stadium, roads, what the revised Strategic Community Plan will mean for you and upcoming Civic Centre shows. You can also learn more about the Garage Sale Trail which is taking place on the Saturday and Sunday.
After enjoying the buzz of the show you can discover some great bargains along the Garage Sale Trail. If you have stuff to sell, there’s still time to register to host your own sale too. At the moment there are about 20 sales registered, but the more the merrier. It would be great to beat last year’s inaugural number. It’s a fun and free way to declutter and clean up your home, meet new people and make a few bucks. It is a good reminder to think about what we use and throw away and a perfect opportunity to repurpose goods we no longer want.
If you don’t think you have enough to sell on your own, grab a few mates together and have your own car boot sale. SAFE Esperance, Esperance Arts Trail and Salmon Gums Community have all registered as group sales in town and there are sales for community groups such as the Esperance Toy Library and Esperance Mechanical Restoration as well.
It will be a fun weekend, see you out and about!
