In the lead up to fire season, the Shire of Esperance have urged residents to clear and maintain their properties or face fines for not complying with regulations.
Shire rangers pay particular attention to condition of firebreak, which need to be in place between to from October 1 to March 31.
Specific details are issued with rates notices or can be obtained from the shire administration building on Windich Street.
Failure to comply with the notice could result in a $250 infringement or an increased penalty of up to $5000.
If it is impractical to clear fire breaks or remove inflammable material you may apply to council for alternatives, no later than October 1.
