Community feedback is being sought on where to place two shark detection buoys out of a possible six sites along the Esperance coastline.
Possible locations include Kelp Beds at Wylie Bay, West Beach, the entrance to Bandy Creek, Fourth beach, Twilight Beach, Lucky Bay and Wharton Beach.
WA Department of Fisheries have prepared an online survey where people can vote on suitable locations
The survey closes on Wednesday, June 14.
The satellite-linked receivers pick up the presence of all tagged sharks and simultaneously transmit an automatic text message to beach responders and posts the information publicly.
All shark sightings should still be reported to the Water Police on 9442 8600.
The Shire of Esperance will also look into applying for the Beach Emergency Numbering funding, which aim to improve emergency response times.
Grants of up to $50,000 are available for regional councils.
