Esperance Hockey Association played out their round three games at the weekend, with both the competition and weather conditions heating up.

Condingup versus Furies

Condingup women’s team has proved to be a tough competitor this season, defeating Furies six to one.

Within the first two minutes Condingup’s forward line presented a strong front, forcing short corner after short corner.

Merle Leiper, Rachel McDonald and Leesa Hayward all claimed goals in the first half for Condingup, leaving Furies scoreless at halftime.

In the second half Furies fought back, with more play in their forward line.

Jacqui Tonkin slotted in Furies only goal for the match mid-way through the second half.

Terri Herbert also scored in the second half, with Merle Leiper and Rachel McDonald both claiming another point for their team.

Best players for Condingup were Terri Herbert, Rachel McDonald and Caitlin James.

Mallee versus Bacchus

Great even start to the game, with strong passages of play from both teams.

Mallee players showcased great teamwork and control of the ball down the field.

Bacchus’ young guns were able to hold off a strong push from Mallee’s forward line, forcing the ball back into their attacking end.

Towards the end of the second half Mallee’s hard work was rewarded with a few short corners, but players couldn’t covert the opportunity into a goal.

Mallee came out hard in the second half, however once again Bacchus’ defensive line held strong.

Overall it was a good game from both teams, with the score after the final siren nil all.
