DJ starts campaign to be the first person to perform a live DJ set in space.

DJ and producer Richard Sacilotto, aka Beyond Tha Noize, hopes to raise US$250,000 to be the first person to DJ in outer space.

“Born and bred” in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Mr Sacilotto has performed all over the country and in the United States and south-east Asia.

Mr Sacilotto said he hoped to be performing a live DJ set from space in two years time.

“It’s the stupidest idea, I had it in my head two or three years ago with some friends,” he said.

“It started as a bit of a joke but the more I thought about it the more I wanted to do it. “With the internet and sites like Go Fund Me it’s realistic.”

Mr Sacilotto said he aimed to raise the money through crowd funding, sponsorship and merchandise sales.

“We opened the merchandise store online and it sold-out in about 20 minutes.”

He said $1200 had been raised in the first four days of the campaign.

Mr Sacilotto recently moved to Melbourne to focus on his music career and regularly performed in Esperance while he lived in Kalgoorlie.

“I’ll never stop, I’ve got nothing to lose and it’s 100 per cent possible,” he said.

“No one has done it yet, and these days you’ve got to have something no one’s done.”

Mr Sacilotto planned on travelling to space with Virgin Galactic and broadcast the DJ set live online.
